Coffee meets olive oil at Starbucks

Raising the bar on innovation Starbucks Coffee Company continues its legacy as it recently unveiled its newest beverage range offering coffee infused with Partanna extra virgin olive oil.

The new line ‘Oleato’ is currently available at Starbucks in Italy to be followed by Southern California in the US.  Towards the latter half of 2023 the beverage will be introduced in select markets including the Middle East, Japan and the United Kingdom.

Four decades ago in 1983 Howard Schultz, the interim CEO had first visited Milan where he encountered the “extraordinary relationship” that the Italian people have with traditional Italian coffee and specifically espresso. That visit inspired Schultz to bring the Italian coffeehouse experience to Starbucks starting with the US. From 11 stores Starbucks today has over 36,000 outlets globally.

“Today I feel just as inspired as I did 40 years ago, Oleato has opened our eyes to fresh new possibilities and a transformational way to enjoy our daily coffee,” Schultz said. “Oleato represents the next revolution in coffee that brings together an alchemy of nature’s finest ingredients – Starbucks arabica coffee beans and Partanna cold pressed extra virgin olive oil.”
