The Doha-based developers of the Mall of Qatar have appointed Dubai-based shopping centre specialists McArthur + Company to oversee the marketing and retail leasing campaign of their super regional mall project at the intersection of Al Rayyan Highway and Celebration Road in Doha.

Scheduled for opening in the third quarter of 2015, the Mall of Qatar project will be adjacent to the popular Al Rayyan Sports Club, a host stadium in the FIFA 2022 World Cup. The mall is also conveniently located 10 minutes west of Education City and Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). A dedicated Metro Station integrated into the mall, as part of Doha’s new transportation system, will give all of Doha and surrounding regions easy access to the mall.

“The Mall of Qatar is designed to the highest standards in the market. Shoppers and retailers will experience a wonderful collection of fashion, restaurants and community services.  After carefully reviewing the competitive shopping centre landscape in Doha, we selected McArthur + Company, who have an experienced team to meet the requirements of delivering a large format shopping centre like ours,” says Shem Krey, deputy managing director, Mall of Qatar.

With over 1.7 million sqft of GLA on three levels, the mall will have 400 shops including a major hypermarket, five leading department stores, over 20 international restaurants and an indoor streetscape with double height flagship stores from across the globe.

“We are pleased to be associated with this impressive project. We have received strong support from the retail community in our preliminary assessment of the Greater Doha and Qatar markets. The philosophy of the shopping centre project completely mirrors our vision to deliver a high quality retail experience for the mall’s expected 20 million plus customers a year. The modern consumer loves the opportunity to shop in an environment that is large enough to host all the great brands but offers a multitude of reasons to visit week in and week out,” says Phil McArthur, managing director, McArthur + Company.
