When my forefathers set foot in this region in the 1850s, they found growth opportunities in Oman, which was then a prominent trading hub and transit point for trade between Europe and India.
The single most important factor for our decision to settle and expand our business in Oman more than any other place in the Middle East was the people-to-people relationship we were able to establish back then. Our success could be attributed to a combination of our entrepreneurial spirit and the goodwill exuded by the Omani people to foreign traders.
Having said that, it wouldn’t have been possible to grow if we hadn’t adapted to change and made the most of every opportunity. Our businesses survived not just the two world wars but also the various energy and economic crises of the past century.
