Storeroom turned cocktail lounge: Galaxy Bar completes 4 years
Restauranteur Natasha Sideris’ licensed concepts Avli by tashas and Galaxy Bar will complete four years of operating from its Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) location this month.
When conceptualising the project, the site in DIFC seemed like the perfect location for Greek concept Avli. And here’s the backstory of how the restaurant was initially designed with a storeroom attached, envisioned as a private dining room. However, Sideris used the space to create an entirely new lounge concept called Galaxy Bar.
Commenting on the journey of both venues, Sideris stated, “It’s been an extraordinary journey from where we began wandering the streets of Athens as a team to inspire the creation of Avli to where we are today. Both concepts have stood the test of time and are very close to my heart and I am so grateful to our dedicated team and our loyal customers for being a part of it.”
Over the years both venues have achieved many milestones. While Avli by tashas was included in the Michelin Guide for Dubai 2022, Galaxy Bar has ranked number 45 two years in a row in World’s 50 Best Bars in both 2021 and 2022. Looking ahead, Avli by tashas will expand to Bahrain with a venue at the Bahrain Harbour. While Galaxy Bar will launch an immersive digital experience in May.
