Retailers around the world – including Inditex Group, Marks & Spencer, Amazon, Union Coop and many more – have announced relief support for victims in Turkey and Syria after violent earthquakes on February 6 caused massive devastation in both countries.

Within two days of the earthquakes Inditex donated €3 million to the Red Crescent to support to be used to cover the basic needs of the earthquake victims. Inditex has also committed to provide 500,000 outerwear to the Red Crescent and AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency). In addition, Doctors Without Borders emergency unit that’s funded by Inditex on an ongoing basis is already working to identify medical needs to offer necessary resources to victims.

A Twitter thread revealed that British retailer Marks & Spencer has also made £50,000 donation to the British Red Cross that’s undertaking critical work on the ground. The brand has also shipped thermals to both countries to be distributed by its local franchise partner to victims battling freezing temperatures.

Amazon has also started sending out food and non-food relief items leveraging its wide logistics and delivery network. In addition, through its Turkey website Amazon is allowing customers to donate items through a donations page.

Meanwhile, in the UAE grocery retailer Union Coop has also announced solidarity offering a provisional discount of 25% on food & non-food products for all buyers who are involved in humanitarian and relief work in the affected countries.

Several other retailers including Apple, IKEA, Aldi, Pepsico, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, to name but a few have also announced relief support for victims in both countries.
