Alibaba.com now in Arabic

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has launched the Arabic version of Alibaba.com on the sidelines of the just concluded Africa Global Business Forum 2013 in Dubai.

Alibaba.com is an e-commerce portal having 36 million registered users from more than 240 countries and regions and showcases 2.8 million supplier storefronts. This comes as part of DCCI’s initiative to promote the e-commerce channel across the MENA region to give businesses in Dubai maximum global exposure and allow them to expand and manage their business from anywhere, anytime.

“Our aim is to facilitate international trade via e-commerce and add more credibility to this business segment across the region. This portal represents an incentive engine to create new market prospects for all businesses to sell their products and services worldwide. Through this website, DCCI members will have the opportunity to create a virtual catalogue of their products free of charge,” says Hamad Buamim, director general of DCCI.

“This is indeed a good development because the future of e-commerce across the region is very strong, and Dubai leads the way with adopting new technologies and its approach to global trade,” adds Michael Lee, director of global marketing for Alibaba.com.
