Virgin Megastore Middle East is set to expand in the GCC with the opening of at least four stores by 2015. One store is set to open at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Mall in November this year, while at least two outlets are expected to open in Qatar and one in Oman. Currently there are 14 Virgin Megastores in the region, of which eight are in the UAE.
“The UAE is the retailer’s top market in the region accounting for 45% of sales, followed by Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt and Jordan,” says Nisreen Shocair, president Virgin Megastore Middle East. The company’s revenue is expected to grow by 15% this year, she adds.
Virgin Megastore Middle East is also boosting its online presence, having launched a ticketing site last month. Around 35% of tickets are sold online in the region, Shocair reveals.
