Kenya-based mall development and project manager Athena Properties has appointed TGM Consultants as joint leasing agents to support the retail leasing of the Two Rivers Mall in Nairobi.

Taking its name from the Giichi and Ruiruaka rivers that flow through the city, Two Rivers is 4.4-million sqft mixed-use development with a 9.2 million-sqft buildable bulk area. The development is set in Nairobi’s Blue Zone surrounded by the UN Complex, the US and the Canadian embassies.

The development is anchored by the largest retail and entertainment centre known as the Two Rivers Lifestyle Centre. The mall is the largest in sub-Saharan Africa at 710,000 sqft of GLA and an additional 215,000 sqft of office space. The mall will have more than 200 shops anchored by Carrefour hypermarket and Magic Planet.

Additionally, the centre hosts an outdoor entertainment area of another 130,00 sqft, which will host an amphitheatre, dancing fountains, aqua play, water wall, promenade and other water zorbing activities. The retail development is designed as a picturesque environment for visitors, guests, shoppers, businesses and residents.

“Athena Properties are delivering on a solid vision for Two Rivers to become one of Africa’s pre-eminent destinations. In terms of location, there are several compelling factors that should ensure a high footfall to the mall and surrounding development. It has easy access to other parts of Nairobi – being 14 kms away from the Central Business District, 29 kms from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and 5 kms from the UN Complex. This is an exciting opportunity for retailers to enter the Sub Saharan African market and reach consumers with a high disposable income,” says Philip Evans, managing partner for TGM.

“There are many factors that will attract a high numbers of visitors to Two Rivers. These include the world-class three-and-five star hotels, the 3,600-seat amphitheater that will host events throughout the year and open public spaces for visitors and residents to enjoy, which all come together to form a beautiful, scenic attraction. TGM Consultants, as our joint leasing agent, will be able to introduce international retailers to a true paradise for shoppers,” adds Zahiba Mawji, sales and leasing manager, Athena Properties.
