Temporary Harrods outlet comes up in Doha

London’s iconic luxury department store Harrods, owned by Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), has opened a 69,965 sqft temporary store at the Katara Cultural Village in Doha for the Christmas period.

Designed by Italian architect Gio Pagani, this temporary store is a larger version of the Harrods branch in Sardinia featuring 14 luxury brands including Audi, Bentley, Buccellati, Graff Diamonds, Chopard and Ferrari. It also features luxury vehicles including Rolls-Royce, BMW and Bentley.

“The goal for this ambitious village was to create a really unique space that enhances the environment, adding a ‘wow’ factor, highlighting each luxury brand within a contrasting unexpected temporary space, turning what was originally an anonymous space into one of the world’s most desirable shopping experiences,” says Pagani.

According to Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Saud Al Thani, CEO of QIA, the store was brought to Doha to coincide with Qatar’s national day celebrations, with a much larger store planned for next year’s national day.
