Splash unveils ‘Room 2013’

Splash’s third limited edition high fashion calendar titled ‘Room 2013’ was unveiled by Micky & Renuka Jagtiani, chairman & vice-chairman of the Landmark Group along with Raza Beig, CEO of Splash & Iconic and the photographers. Exploring the vision of a room through the lens of 12 renowned photographers from around the world, the calendar showcases various moods of artistic glamour.

With each artist’s interpretation of the theme ‘Room 2013’ as diverse as the human imagination itself, concepts vary from a physical space to a metaphysical realm. Using the world as a visual metaphor and what goes behind closed doors, the 2013 calendar showcases 12 stories through the lens of its creators embodying a multitude of emotions of love, hope, youth, happiness, tragedy, lust and the supernatural.

Talking on the sidelines of the calendar launch, Beig says, “The idea for the 2013 calendar arose from a curious artistic challenge, where 12 photographers from across the globe – Tejal Patni, Lope Navo, Prasad Naik, Amol Jadhav, Ewelina Stechnij, Lucia Giacani, Peter Richweisz, Nader Bilgrami, Marguerite Oelofse, Romi Stern, Nicoline Patricia Malina and Dragomir Spassov – were roped in to shoot for one concept, ‘Room 2013’, which each of them interpreted in their own way. ‘Room 2013’ is interpreted in various forms be it a hospital room, a dream room or a melting room portraying stories like ‘Supernova, ‘Spontaneous Life’, ‘Utopia’ amongst a multitude of others.”

Beig also comments on the Splash Islamic calendar, a novel concept from the brand’s portfolio, “As we get ready to celebrate our 20th anniversary, we will present for the very first time the Splash Islamic calendar, featuring 12 names of Allah in contemporary calligraphic renditions by renowned calligraphy artist Wissam Shawkat. Taking audiences on a magnificent painterly voyage through the year is a series of artistic renditions that are designed keeping in mind the aesthetic and spiritual quotient. A beautiful play of form, balance and craft, the calendar is bound to create a lasting impression.”
