Qatar Tourism lends support to retail, F&B businesses

With Shop Qatar running until 18th and Qatar International Food Festival scheduled from 11th to 21st, March is set to be a busy month for Qatar. These initiatives come as part of Qatar Tourism’s efforts to lend support to retail and F&B businesses.

Qatar Tourism has lined up an exciting schedule of events as part of Shop Qatar. Beauty retailer Sephora will host a series of masterclasses at Place Vendôme. While Harvey Nichols will host a fashion show at Doha Festival City on March 14 to showcase Ramadan collections curated by local designers. Shoppers will also get the chance to win prizes worth over QAR2 million.

Being aware of the importance of family fun Shop Qatar festival has also organised a flurry of entertainment for children ranging from winter circus, enchanted fairy forest to heliosphere aerial performances.

Meanwhile, gastronomy will take centrestage in Qatar during the 10-day long free-to-enter Qatar International Food Festival at Lusail Boulevard. The food festival is being organised by Qatar Tourism to showcase the country’s diverse food and beverage (F&B) and hospitality offerings. From street food to healthy food to vegan options as well as ‘dinner in the sky’ experience there’s something for everyone to enjoy. There will be live cooking stations too along with food-centric workshops.

Qatar had spent approximately $350 billion on infrastructure development [as estimated by Al Rayan Investment] as part of its preparation to host the FIFA World Cup 2022. If anything, the mega sporting event not only put the spotlight on the country to diversify its economy but also provided a much-needed boost to Qatari and regional retail businesses.

By continuing the momentum through events such as Shop Qatar and Qatar International Food Festival, among several others, the country aims to support the growth of its retail, F&B, hospitality, leisure & entertainment and real estate industries. While offering excitement to citizens and residents of Qatar all-year round, such efforts are also expected to boost tourism especially as the country aims to attract six million visitors annually by 2030.
