UAE’s largest department store coming up in Yas Mall

Chalhoub Group has signed an agreement with Aldar Properties to develop a 200,000 sqft department store, which will be located in prime retail space within Abu Dhabi’s Yas Mall. This is expected to be region’s largest department store when it opens in November this year.

The Chalhoub Group, which opened the world’s largest shoe store — the 96,000 sqft Level Shoe District in The Dubai Mall — two years ago, says the Yas Mall department store “will showcase a portfolio representing the most desirable ranges from over 200 global brands”.

“We have worked closely with Chalhoub Group to identify and develop the best department store experience for Yas Mall. We believe that by creating a new concept, with one of the region’s most respected luxury retailers, we will create a unique shopping experience that complements the diverse retail mix already in place at the mall,” says Mohammed Al Mubarak, Aldar CEO.

The new store will be slightly bigger than the current largest single store in region, Galeries Lafayette store in The Dubai Mall, which is 192,000 sqft in size. Last week, Aldar Properties announced a new partnership agreement with Retail Arabia, which will see a new concept House of Fraser department store open in Yas Mall.

The deal will also bring the first Hamleys store to Abu Dhabi, as well as the first Joe Fresh store in the UAE
