Kuwait-based Tamdeen Group’s 360 Mall is embracing the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan through a variety of social initiatives around good health and hospitality in line with its corporate strategy of creating value for the community it serves.
The mall is hosting the Rijeemy Walkathon in partnership with Rijeemy Centre, a nutrition and diet clinic, to encourage society to fight obesity. Participants are welcome to partake in the walkathon taking place at the mall from 5-to-6 pm daily, except on weekends, until July 6. Mall tenants are also being encouraged to join in the activities.
“360 Mall is known to be customer-service oriented and we cater to the wishes of our customers quite seriously. This Ramadan we are fulfilling the need of the hour, which is to help people to enjoy longer and healthier lifestyles through our partnership with Rijeemy,” says Claudia Lopusinska, the mall’s marketing manager.
In late 2014, research from the Food Security Index ranked Kuwait as the most obese nation in the world, with a 42.8% obesity rate. Hence, the walkathon has become the biggest health initiative in Kuwait. First initiated five years ago starting with 100 enthusiasts at the inaugural event, the walkathon is now held every year in Ramadan. This year, over 2,500 Kuwait residents are participating in the event.
The programme is sponsored by several big corporates this year including Zain Telecommunication and Ghalya Technology and is supported by the Ministry of Youth, Fitness First, Infunity, Art Studio, Nike and Glaciar, to name a few.
Further 360 Mall also supported the UNHCR’s (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) World Refugee Day, advocating the plight of refugees from around the world. With this initiative the mall kicked off its Ramadan campaign on June 20.
“We find it of utmost importance to highlight the plight of our brothers and sisters in the Middle East and it was to this end that we kicked off a humanitarian campaign, in partnership with the UNHCR, on World Refugee Day,” states Lopusinska.
That aside, shoppers at 360 Mall are being treated to complementary coffee and dates from the two hospitality kiosks at the ground level, in partnership with Rotana Hotel. These initiatives will be supplemented by yet another activity wherein children will receive free traditional henna drawings on their palms.
