Oman to have a Westfield inspired mall

An Omani entrepreneur Sheikh Fahad Abdullah Al Araimi is building a replica of the Westfield shopping centre in London’s Shepherd’s Bush in the country’s capital Muscat.

Al Araimi Boulevard, the luxurious new shopping mall, decked out with elaborate water features and grand boulevards lined with exotic plants, is located in the coastal suburb of Al Khoud, a few kilometres from the Omani capital Muscat. The ‘landmark’ development will be set over two floors and spread across 1.6 million sqft.

Al Araimi, CEO of real estate developer Al Raid Group, says the new Al Araimi Boulevard will ‘completely revolutionise the shopping and leisure experience’ in Oman.

Construction on the mall has begun, with completion expected by September 2018. The mall will house the biggest food court and the largest glass atrium in Oman, with 758,580 sqft of leasable space.

The new mall, designed as a ‘social hub’ offering a ‘relaxing’ shopping experience, will provide a combination of entertainment, education and innovative features.

Set in landscaped grounds off the affluent Sultan Qaboos Road, visitors can approach the imposing mall via a ramped road bordered on one side by water features and landscaping.
