The joint committee for Omanisation in the sales and distribution sector has said it seeks to provide 11,000 additional jobs in the sultanate’s sales and retail sector by 2015. This will increase the number of Omanis working in the sector to 35,730, boosting the rate of Omanisation to 45%.

The recommendations and proposals are the outcome of a study conducted by an international company on the labour market in the field of sale and distribution.  The study titled ‘Employment of National Manpower: Outcomes and Recommendations’ was presented at a gathering hosted by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).

“The level of Omanisation in the sales and distribution sector was 21.3% in 2012 and we want to increase it to 45% in the near future. The committee seeks to avail employment opportunities based on continuous rehabilitation, training and development,” says Mohammed Abdul Husain Baqir al Lawati, chairman of the joint committee for Omanisation in the sales and distribution sector.
