Lulu hypermarket deploys robots to deliver food within its new store in Sharjah

Lulu Group International recently introduced the world’s first AI-powered Food Delivery Robot at their newest hypermarket in Bu Tina in Sharjah. The grocery giant has partnered with Jacky’s Business Solutions to introduce this first-of-its-kind solution, which enables robots to deliver ready-to-eat snacks to its customers inside the store.

Bellabot Robot powered by the Purplegrids Inc. platform and bluarrows has been deployed within the hypermarket to provide the service to Lulu Hypermarket’s customers.

“Customers can place an order at the cash counter, sit at any designated table, and scan the QR code, which is stuck on the table. Once this process is completed, the counter staff will instantly deliver the ordered food using the robot. This will help customers to check out a variety of food and request pre-cooked packed food that can be taken home,” explained Jacky’s Business Solutions team.

The plan is to have the AI-powered robots in all Lulu outlets in the future to offer an array of services to its customers. “We are looking to fully explore the capabilities of our AI based technology in providing the latest in food delivery and dish collection experience where multi-brand food outlets can fully use the technology. These autonomous robots will enable a new kind of customer experience while reducing face-to-face interaction while optimising the operations and turnaround rate of customers,” the Group added.

Lulu Group International launched its hypermarket in Bu Tina, Sharjah earlier this month, bringing its store count in the Emirate to 18. Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah City Municipality, opened the sprawling 165,000sqft three-level hypermarket along with other key Lulu stakeholders.
