Abu Dhabi headquartered LuLu Group has opened its latest hypermarket at Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi, taking its total store count to 195 globally.

The new Hypermarket is in the heart of Khalifa City at Forsan Central Mall, on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi. Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council inaugurated the 160,000 sqft new outlet. Also present were Saeed Al Bahri Salem Al Ameri, director-general of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority; Yusuffali MA, chairman and managing director of Lulu Group; and other dignitaries.

“We are glad to see the opening of another store that will cater to our loyal patrons living in Khalifa City and its adjoining neighbourhoods – Mohamed bin Zayed City, Al Falah, Yas Island, Al Raha,” said Yusuffali. “Through our internationally sourced quality products and enthusiastic staff, Lulu has been the preferred shopping destination of different nationalities and we will continue to preserve this identity with our new store. This hypermarket at Forsan Central Mall introduces new and improved design with modern layout and aesthetic lighting. It will further strengthen the world-class shopping experience that we have always been committed to,” he added.

“It has always been our policy to make Lulu brand easily accessible to shoppers in suburbs and outskirt areas, so they do not need to drive a long distance”. “The challenges of COVID-19 are there, but I have full faith and confidence in the visionary leadership of this great country. All business organisations must continue their expansion plans and growth activities. It will help the economy recover faster, for us to get back to our normal life sooner,” Yusuffali said.

“We are proud to be a part of the UAE’s overall development and will continue to support sustainable development strategies. Due to the visionary leadership, there was no food shortage and all foodstuff were readily available at affordable prices during this global health crisis,” acknowledged Yusuffali.

The Lulu Group has announced that it is striding ahead with its expansion plans despite the challenges faced due to COVID-19 pandemic across the world.

It has opened seven hypermarkets in different regions between June to October this year along with a dedicated fulfilment centre in Abu Dhabi for its e-commerce operations. In the UAE alone, more than 20 hypermarkets will open in the coming years.
