Tighter restrictions on hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and entertainment venues on account of the rising number of Covid-19 cases and violation of social distancing guidelines have put the retail and F&B industry in a tight spot.

Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management announced on Monday that it is stepping up its efforts in the fight against the coronavirus with stricter restrictions placed on entertainment venues from February 2nd to February 28th.

According to the new rules, all pubs and bars will remain closed and restaurants and cafes will need shut by 1am. Shopping malls and hotel establishments will be required to operate at 70% capacity. Audience capacity at indoor venues, including cinemas will be reduced to 50% f maximum capacity.

Dubai Police and other authorities will intensify inspection campaigns and the crackdown on violators over the coming weeks. Members of the public have also been encouraged to report violations that aren’t compliant with the safety protocols put in place by officials
