ONI Lounge & Restaurant, a lively and enticing social dining concept delivering authentic Japanese cuisine, has opened its doors in Dubai’s Shangri-La Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road.

Located on the second floor of the hotel, ONI is a culinary concept showcasing Japanese street flavours and dishes served in traditional ‘Izakaya’ sharing style plates. Using fresh ingredients sourced from Japan’s north Island of Hokkaido, ONI’s menu features much-loved favourites such as robata, sushi, gyoza and ramen cooked at live cooking stations for multi-sensory dining experience.  Menu highlights include wagyu beef tataki, avocado on crispy rice, tuna pizza, seafood okonomiyaki, and semi-dried Japanese rockfish ‘kichiji shioyaki’ to name a few.

“We are extremely excited to launch ONI here in Dubai and open our doors to the public. ONI is more than just a restaurant; it is a social dining experience focusing on theatrics and providing guests with a full 360 multisensory experience from the moment they walk in the door. With live cooking stations, a sake bar and a DJ booth with a rotating residency we are confident that ONI will be unlike anything else on the market and will soon become the go-to place for the who’s-who of Dubai,” says head chef, Emil Helmy.

ONI recalls the glamour and intrigue of Japanese culinary culture, combining street Japanese flavours using traditional techniques, world-class mixology and dramatic design. With luxurious décor drawing inspiration from the ancient Japanese tradition of ‘golden repair’ or ‘Kintsugi’, ONI exudes an ambience that is sultry, bold yet high-energy.
