Majid Al Futtaim has partnered with one of Africa’s largest online shopping companies Jumia to provide a secure and convenient way for Carrefour Kenya’s customers to shop for groceries and household goods online, starting early January 2019.

The partnership is in line with Majid Al Futtaim’s omnichannel strategy to implement e-commerce offerings for Carrefour customers across all countries it operates in. More shoppers will now have access to a variety of Carrefour products, providing them with a shopping experience that is safe, convenient and stress-free from the comfort of their homes.

Shoppers will enjoy the same great value prices and quality of products they enjoy at Carrefour stores. This comes with the added assurance of Jumia’s buyer protection policy, country-wide delivery, seven-day free returns and varied payment options including cash on delivery, mobile money and credit card.

“We are happy to partner with Jumia in Kenya as we seek to extend Carrefour’s offering to more customers by leveraging on Jumia’s network and e-commerce platform. This decision is based on Jumia Kenya’s credibility and excellent performance over the years in online shopping management and is consistent with Majid Al Futtaim’s omnichannel strategy for Carrefour,” says Franck Moreau of Carrefour Kenya at Majid Al Futtaim Retail.

“Carrefour is one of the largest retailers in the world and growing fast in Kenya. Through this partnership, we are pleased to offer the best of Carrefour’s products to our customers across Kenya. This is part of our continued commitment to conveniently offer customers the largest range of quality products at the best prices,” adds Jumia Kenya managing director, Sam Chappatte.

The partnership comes as Adialea, the joint venture between CFAO Retail and Carrefour in Central and Western Africa, also signed commercial deals to sell their products on Jumia platform in Ivory Coast, Senegal and Cameroon.

Online shopping is increasingly becoming popular in Kenya, for the convenience it brings and the wide selection of products it offers buyers. This trend is also attributed to the increased mobile phone services penetration, which is estimated at above 80%, and increased use of smartphones.
