The over five-decade old Al Ain Zoo in the UAE is leveraging the power of social media to interact with visitors, since it closed the zoo premises as a precautionary measure to limit the spread of COVID-19.

As part of its #StayHome campaign, Al Ain Zoo is using its social media handles to share recreation as well as awareness and educational programmes. These include online workshops on wildlife as well as materials for children to learn more about animals and plants. Soon, Al Ain Zoo will also start hosting educational content as well as games on its YouTube channel.

“We are trying to help our followers on social media to invest their time in a way that supports the current national approach and makes staying at home a motivation for learning, production and useful enjoyment,” said Omar Yousef Alblooshi, director of marketing and corporate communication, Al Ain Zoo to WAM.

Meanwhile, tickets purchased before the zoo closed to public will be valid until December 31, 2020, stated Al Ain Zoo.
