Phase II of international logistics provider Kuehen + Nagel’s state-of-the-art logistics centre has opened at Dubai World Central’s (DWC) Logistics City. Phase II’s addition of around 150,695 sqft of space to the warehouse and mezzanine brings the l ogistics centre’s total covered area to 333,681 sqft. The expansion was carried out as part of Kuehne + Nagel’s growth initiative and will strengthen its ability to support customers in the UAE’s fast-moving consumer goods, hotel amenities, emergency/relief and aviation sectors.

The expansion project was recently awarded a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold rating by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), reflecting the company’s commitment towards sustainability. The project complements DWC’s focus on encouraging sustainable developments in the UAE ahead of the Dubai World Expo 2020.

“We take tremendous pride in having secured LEED Gold status for our Phase II expansion, which we achieved through the hard work of our team. With our extended premises in DWC, we have reaffirmed our commitment to cater to the growing regional demand for integrated logistics services while underlining our confidence in DWC as the premier aviation and logistics hub in the Middle East. With Dubai’s successful hosting bid for Expo 2020, we look forward to capitalise on the logistics infrastructure of DWC to optimally support our customers,” says Andy Weber, president MEA & Central Asia, Kuehen + Nagel.

“As a strategic initiative of the Dubai Government, DWC plays a multi-faceted role in the overall development of the country. While it essentially serves as a hub for all aviation, logistics and business activities, we are keen on promoting the sustainability efforts of our partners. Kuehne + Nagel’s LEED-certified expansion is an exciting development and a benchmark for businesses operating at DWC. We will continue to support our residents to adopt and implement green initiatives over and above the provision of multimodal logistics capabilities, world-class technology and business infrastructure,” adds Mohsen Ahmad, vice president – Logistics District, DWC.
