Ishwar Chugani, managing director of Giordano Middle East FZE and executive director of Giordano International, has received the 2014 Retail Professional of the Year Award from the MENA Shopping Centre and Retailer Awards, which is organised by the Middle East Council of Shopping Centres and the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC).
Chugani was selected from fellow nominees for his outstanding work in steering Giordano to expand and penetrate markets beyond the Middle East. He was also honoured for his exemplary leadership in managing 1,000 people from 22 different nationalities. Chugani has been at the helm of Giordano for the past 21 years and has over 35 years of retail experience in the region.
Meanwhile, Kabir Malkani, head of marketing for Arabian Center and Lamcy Plaza, was also awarded the Retail Professional of the Year-2014.
“I am extremely humbled and pleased by the honour bestowed upon me. The achievement of the awards in the successive years is indicative of the popularity of the malls among those who throng to the shopping destinations in the region,” Malkani says.
