H&M to produce protective equipment for healthcare workers

In its efforts to tackle the effects of the on-going COVID-19 crisis, Swedish fashion retailer has decided to produce personal protective equipment to be provided to hospitals and healthcare workers.

“The Coronavirus is dramatically affecting each and every one of us, and H&M Group is, like many other organisations, trying our best to help in this extraordinary situation. We see this is as a first step in our efforts to support in any way we can. We are all in this together, and have to approach this as collectively as possible,” said Anna Gedda, head of sustainability, H&M Group through a company statement.

This is a global effort being undertaken by H&M, and the product deliveries will be made promptly.

A similar effort has been undertaken by US-based soft goods and garment manufacturer Portland Garment Factory that has set up safety procedures within its premises to produce 1,000 medical masks and gowns per week for medical professionals.
