From Sports to Spaces: GMG Diversifies with Modora

GMG has launched Modora, an upscale home and interiors concept, marking the first anniversary of the GMG Home division and advancing the group’s strategy to diversify beyond its core retail categories.

Since establishing the Home division in 2024, GMG has built a portfolio that addresses rising demand in the UAE for high-quality craftsmanship and contemporary design. Modora enters the market amid sustained real estate activity and increased investment in premium residential interiors.

“At GMG, we are always committed to growth. The launch of Modora marks an opportunity to tap into a segment that is valued at about USD 3.7 million, with forecasts exceeding USD 5.7 million by 2033. With Modora, we are expanding our presence in the premium interiors category and advancing our focus on supporting local talent, suppliers, and innovation across the retail value chain,” said Mohammad A. Baker, Deputy Chairman and CEO, GMG.

A luxury concept tailored to UAE design demand

Modora introduces a design philosophy focused on modern craftsmanship and timeless aesthetics. Its debut collection spans furniture and accessories for bedrooms, dining, living, and entertaining spaces, offering functional solutions for design-driven consumers. The flagship showroom, located in Umm Suqeim, Dubai, is positioned within a residential hub frequented by homeowners seeking premium interior solutions.

Capitalising on real estate and lifestyle spending

The division’s growth aligns with strong activity in the UAE interiors and furnishings market, supported by residential development, hospitality investment, and consumer interest in sustainable, design-forward products. Real estate sales in Dubai continue to rise year-on-year, particularly in the high-end segment.

“The UAE’s growing population and thriving real estate market have driven strong demand for quality interiors and furnishings. With the launch of Modora, we’re expanding our Home Division portfolio to better serve this demand while reinforcing GMG’s commitment to operational excellence and long-term investment in the country’s retail landscape,” said Rob Canning, Vice President, GMG Home Division.

A multi-tier home portfolio

Modora joins Suncoast, GMG’s premium outdoor furniture brand, within the GMG Home division. Together, they allow GMG to serve both indoor and outdoor living segments and strengthen the company’s position in the UAE’s expanding design and lifestyle market.
