MANGO reaffirms commitment to transparency

October 8, 2020 | By RetailME Bureau

Spanish fashion brand MANGO has published a list of the Tier 1 production factories in its global supply chain. It is part of its commitment to transparency and sustainability, making it the first major company in the Spanish fashion sector to do so. The list is available from today on the company website.

The list includes information on the factories MANGO used for manufacturing during 2020, fulfilling the requirements of the Transparency Pledge Standard. It is an initiative launched by a coalition of nine employment and human rights organisations committed to transparency in the supply chains of the clothing and footwear industry.

The publication of the list is part of the Bilateral Agreement signed in 2018 between MANGO and the Comisiones Obreras trade union for the industry. This major advance in the transparency of the MANGO value chain represents, both for the firm and the industry train union, a powerful tool for strengthening the rights of people who work in the manufacture of its products, as well as a means of promoting responsibility in global supply chains within the fashion sector.

MANGO and the Comisiones Obreras trade union for the industry are continue to work together to strengthen the human rights due diligence of its supply chain and to help develop a more sustainable textile industry.

MANGO, founded in 1984, is today one of the leading fashion groups in the world. Based in Barcelona, with a workforce of approximately 15,000 employees, the company has an extensive store network of 8.64 million sqft in over 110 countries. From its “El Hangar” Design Centre in Palau-solità i Plegamans, every year it designs more than 18,000 garments and accessories for a season’s trends. The company closed the 2019 financial year with sales of 2.374 billion euros.
