Waterfront Market, Dubai’s fresh food market, has been given permission by the authorities to re-open its fish, meat, dry goods and fruit and vegetable markets. It has resumed business from today, April 7, 2020.

As part of its re-opening, Waterfront Market has implemented a range of precautionary health and safety measures in order to combat the spread of COVID-19. A dedicated team has been assigned to implement a 24-hour cleaning programme, which includes disinfecting and sanitising all common areas in addition to their standard hygiene cleaning practices.

Thermal cameras have been installed at all entrances of the Waterfront Market to monitor staff and customer’s temperatures as they enter and numerous fixed hand sanitiser units have been installed at multiple locations in order to facilitate customers to sanitise their hands. All customers and staff will have to practice physical distancing; masks and gloves have been made mandatory; and only one family member is allowed to do the shopping, while children are prohibited to enter the market.

“Waterfront Market is a state-of-the-art modern facility which incorporates first-rate hygiene levels into the design of the building and its operations. As we deal in fresh food health, safety, security and hygiene have always been our number one priority. In light of Covid-19 we have taken additional precautionary measures across the entire property to further ensure the health and safety of all our customers, staff and the wider community. We encourage our community to practice physical distancing and stay safe during these unprecedented times,” said Mohammad Al Madani, manager, Waterfront Market.

Aside from Lulu Hypermarket, The Pharmacy, the Fish Market and the auction, all other retail outlets at Waterfront Market will remain closed until further notice. Restaurants at the Waterfront Market will limit their services to home deliveries.
