Through a Twitter post today (April 7, 2020), the Dubai Economy has announced extension of the closure of commercial activities until April 18, 2020.
“In line with the preventive measures against the spread of COVID-19, Dubai Economy extends the circular on the closure of commercial activities until the end of the National Disinfection Programme on the 18th of April 2020. The exempted sectors will operate as usual,” the Twitter post stated.
The exempted sectors include supermarkets, grocery stores, cooperative societies and pharmacies offering essential needs to people residing in the UAE.
Temporary closure of commercial activities – including shopping centres; commercial centres; fish, meat and vegetables markets – started on March 25, 2020 for a renewable period of two weeks. Entertainment centres, cinemas, fitness centres and spas, among others, were asked to close temporarily even before.
