City Centre Deira marching ahead with redevelopment plans

Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, has unveiled a list of new tenants at City Centre Deira as part of its ongoing AED377 million redevelopment project that it embarked on earlier this year. The transformation project at Majid Al Futtaim’s mixed-use shopping destination, intended to elevate the customer experience as a result of changing habits and preferences, is due to end in the first half of 2020.

In recent months, 3MINA, FG4 London, Arrow, Rivoli Eye Zone and American family diner Denny’s, opened their doors at City Centre Deira. Additionally, the mall has revealed a strong pipeline of tenants that are due to operate starting with affordable Turkish fashion brand, LC Waikiki, which opened its flagship store today. Polish footwear and bags brand CCC will open its first store in Dubai on July 27. Coffee-lovers can rejoice as iCoffee, the one-stop-destination for all coffee products, such as beans and machines, will also be opening at the mall in August.

As part of the mall’s retail optimisation efforts, several popular international stores, such as Forever 21, Body and Rubi, Steve Madden, Rivoli Prestige, and Puma have been relocated. Additionally, fashion retailer Zara will be moved to occupy a larger retail space with a revitalised in-store experience at the end of the year. Korean beauty brand The Face Shop and fast-food Chinese restaurant Chowking have also received a facelift.

“Since City Centre Deira first welcomed visitors in 1995, we have progressed by leaps and bounds, enhancing the shopping and leisure experience every step of the way. Our customers continue to be at heart of this redevelopment phase, which will bring a vibrant mix of new and bigger stores and a unique culinary journey within a fresh and contemporary setting. City Centre Deira is the preferred leisure and lifestyle destination for young families and millennials,” said Majed Al Fahim, senior mall manager at City Centre Deira.

Addressing the demand for big-box homeware stores, City Centre Deira will also introduce furnishing and interior-styling brands, starting with Home Centre later this year. Centrepoint will open in the mall’s new East wing early next year. As part of the redevelopment project, the mall will introduce 25 new homeware and fashion brands, 20 new F&B concepts and home-grown restaurants next year.
