UK-based online supermarket, Ocado has set up a base for Ocado Solutions in North America. From April 2019, the office will be based in Tysons, Virginia, which will pave the way for a permanent location in the Washington DC area.
With Ocado’s partnerships with Kroger in the USA and Sobeys in Canada, the new office will play a vital role in coordinating the delivery of Ocado’s technology, as well as support and engineering services to sites across North America.
As part of the partnership with Kroger, the latter can exclusively use the he Ocado Smart Platform, an end-to-end technology and automation solutions, in the US. These solutions will be underpinned by the rapid roll-out of 20 highly automated Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFC) across the country in the coming years. The development of a CFC for Sobeys is also now underway for the Greater Toronto area.
“I am delighted that we are bringing Ocado to Washington DC. The new office will give us a direct presence in North America from which to oversee the delivery of our innovative partnerships with Kroger and Sobeys. We selected the DC area for its great connections to cities across the USA and Canada, as well as for its strong technology and engineering talent pools,” said Luke Jensen, CEO of Ocado Solutions.
