French retail chain Auchan plans to open five commercial centres in Tunisia, with a total investment of $623 million.
Opening of these new outlets is a sign of the resumption of investment in the Arab country and will help boost Tunisian economy. Auchan’s investment is likely to attract more capital to the country.
Auchan, known for its hypermarkets, is the 11th largest food retail chain in the world. By the end of 2013, the company had 774 hypermarkets, 817 supermarkets and 362 shopping malls. Besides retail and malls, the group also operates in real estate and banking sectors.
