Asda, the UK’s third-largest grocery retailer, has strengthened its partnership with Deliverect to streamline and scale rapid delivery across its Asda Express network.
The collaboration marks a significant step in Asda’s ongoing investment in modern, flexible digital infrastructure, as the retailer positions itself at the forefront of the shift toward fully integrated, multi-channel commerce.
Simplifying the complexity of quick commerce
As demand for instant, on-demand grocery continues to rise, retailers are grappling with increasing operational complexity. Each additional delivery platform introduces fragmented systems, duplicated workflows, and the constant challenge of maintaining real-time accuracy across pricing, availability, and product range.
Rather than treating this as a constraint, Asda has approached it as an opportunity to reimagine how digital commerce is managed across both store operations and central teams.
Through its partnership with Deliverect, Asda has consolidated multiple delivery channels into a single operational flow, simplifying execution at the store level while giving central teams greater visibility and control.
A unified system for scale
At the heart of the partnership is a shared ambition: to build a system that works seamlessly in-store while enabling efficient, centralised management at scale.
Deliverect’s platform acts as a unified layer between Asda’s stores, internal systems, and on-demand marketplaces such as Uber Eats, Just Eat, and Deliveroo. Importantly, it enhances rather than replaces Asda’s existing tech stack, allowing for low-lift integration with high flexibility.
Key capabilities include:
This approach allows Asda to operate digital commerce as one connected ecosystem, balancing local execution with centralised intelligence.
Leadership perspective
“From day one, this has been a true collaboration,” said Joe Heather, Regional General Manager, Northern Europe at Deliverect. “Strong digital commerce performance isn’t just about technology, but how it is operationalised. Together, we’ve built a model that delivers consistency in-store while scaling efficiently across multiple channels.”
For Asda, rapid delivery is already emerging as a key growth lever. “Quick commerce is a critical growth area for us,” said James Laws, Senior Director Channel Operations, Wholesale and Convenience at Asda. “Our partnership with Deliverect has simplified processes for store colleagues, enabling them to deliver the fast, reliable service customers increasingly expect.”
Building for what comes next
Already live across hundreds of Asda Express locations, the solution is set to expand further through 2026.
More than a channel management tool, the platform is designed as a future-ready architecture. It allows Asda to integrate new marketplaces, connect with third-party logistics providers, and introduce additional digital touchpoints as consumer expectations evolve.
With interoperability and scalability at its core, the partnership gives Asda the flexibility to continuously adapt its on-demand strategy—plugging into new opportunities without overhauling its existing systems.
