ADCOOP Opens Flagship Store at Makani Al Khalidiya Garden: Ushering in a New Era of Community-Centered Retail

ADCOOP, the UAE’s community-focused retail pioneer, has officially opened its new flagship branch at Makani Al Khalidiya Garden. Inaugurated by Captain Mohamed Jumaa Al Shamsi, Chairman of MAIR Group, alongside Group CEO & MD Nehyan Alameri and senior leadership, the launch marks a significant milestone in ADCOOP’s ongoing transformation journey.

More than just a store opening, this flagship location embodies a bold step forward for the brand. It’s the first ADCOOP store to fully integrate its new brand identity, uniting the legacy banners of Al Ain, Al Dhafra, Delma, and Abu Dhabi Cooperative under one unified, modern retail experience. At 1647 sqm and offering over 8,000 products, the store is built to deliver value, freshness, and convenience to UAE families — underpinned by technology and community-first design.

Innovation That Serves the Shopper

The Khalidiya Garden store introduces a suite of first-to-market features for the UAE retail sector, including the 100% Electronic Shelf Labeling (ESL) system, water mist refrigeration for produce, avocado ripeness scanners, and LED lighting with closed chillers for energy efficiency. “This store is the next evolution,” said ADCOOP CEO Bertrand Loumaye. “You can feel the difference — in design, in technology, in customer experience.”

Customer convenience is at the forefront, with self-checkout stations, intuitive floor layouts, and digital signage all contributing to a seamless in-store journey.

Four Pillars of the New ADCOOP

According to Loumaye, the revamped product strategy rests on four key pillars:

  1. Freshness First: “Our fresh produce, bakery, butchery and seafood sections are meticulously curated — with 20% of fresh products sourced locally. Lighting, shelving, and display choices are all aimed at making freshness stand out.”
  2. Relevance to All: “We’re catering to Emiratis and Arab families, but also expats and every household that calls the UAE home. It’s about inclusivity and quality.”
  3. Affordability That’s Transparent: “We’ve reduced prices on over 1,300 items. When customers see a yellow label, they know it’s among the lowest in the market.”
  4. A Welcoming, Family-Focused Environment: “From the open layout to family-friendly amenities and proximity to the Makani park, everything is built to create a relaxed, enjoyable shopping experience.”

Powered by People and Retail Intelligence

Behind the innovation is a deep investment in people. The Khalidiya team has undergone over 500 hours of retail training through the ADCOOP Retail School initiative — preparing them not just for store operations but for elevating the entire customer journey. “We believe talent and training are essential to exceptional service,” Loumaye added.

Looking Ahead: Community, Continuity, and Growth

Loumaye emphasized that ADCOOP remains committed to its core strength in supermarkets. “We’re staying focused. Building what we do best, better.” Expansion will continue in community malls, with each store fine-tuned through agile learning and customer feedback loops.

As for loyalty programs, Loumaye confirmed that ADCOOP is in the process of “evaluating and evolving” its approach, with more updates expected in the coming months.

With this new launch, ADCOOP isn’t just opening a store — it’s setting a new benchmark in local retail: blending legacy and modernity, community and innovation, service and sustainability. Or as Loumaye summed it up: “Fresh products. Fair prices. And a place where every family feels welcome.”
