SQUATWOLF’s Kuwait Flagship Store Anchors Its Regional Growth Ambitions

SQUATWOLF has opened its first standalone store in Kuwait at The Avenues, marking the Dubai-born performance wear brand’s entry into the market with a flagship format.

Founded in 2016, the brand has been expanding its presence across the Gulf, with Kuwait emerging as a key market following its earlier entry into Qatar. Prior to the flagship launch, SQUATWOLF had already established a foothold in Kuwait through a partnership with Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa Commercial Co. (AAW), supported by a growing ecommerce presence.

While the store opening signals a physical expansion, the brand’s trajectory in Kuwait points to a different kind of market entry — one led by the community before retail.

Over the past year, SQUATWOLF has built strong engagement within Kuwait’s fitness ecosystem, spanning athletes, creators and a wider base of performance-focused consumers. This pre-existing demand translated into immediate traction at launch, highlighting the role of community in shaping retail outcomes.

Located within one of the region’s most prominent shopping destinations, the flagship is positioned to capture both destination-driven footfall and a highly engaged local audience. More importantly, it reflects how performance wear brands are increasingly approaching brick-and-mortar, not as a starting point but a physical extension of an already active consumer base.

This shift is becoming more pronounced across the region, particularly in categories like athleisure, where brand affinity is often built through digital platforms, fitness communities and lifestyle alignment before translating into store visits.

The brand’s broader evolution also underpins this momentum. Positioned as one of the first global fitness labels to emerge from the UAE, SQUATWOLF today reaches consumers in ~120 countries. Its growth has been supported by a Series A investment from ASCA Capital in 2023, alongside continued product innovation, including its partnership with NexTex to integrate TDry technology for advanced moisture management. At the same time, the company has aligned itself with sustainability-led practices, adopting 100% sustainable packaging across its operations.

For SQUATWOLF, the Kuwait flagship marks the beginning of its standalone retail journey in the country, with further expansion expected to follow in line with market response and consumer demand.

More broadly, the launch underscores an evolving retail playbook, where community-led growth is not just supporting expansion, but actively determining how and where brands scale.
