Saudi Arabia-based grocery retail chain Al Raya Supermarket serves over 100,000 customers daily across its outlets with an aim to promote healthier eating practices while making a difference for people it serves and the planet.

Currently under the leadership of Frederic Levy-Perrault (CEO), Al Raya Supermarket boasts a network of 50+ stores in KSA, stocks more than 35,000 items catering for a vast group of customer needs.

It’s a brand that boasts many firsts. Back in 1991, when the first Al Raya Supermarket branch opened on 70th Street (Prince Majed St. in Jeddah) it became a pioneer supermarket in the Kingdom, it was the first in Jeddah to offer high-quality fresh items, a full-fledged bakery in each store and 24-hour service. Quickly Al Raya became the first to open modern supermarkets in remote smaller towns throughout the western part of the Kingdom. Today Al Raya stores are all over the West and from Jizan in the South to Tabuk in the North.

Al Raya’s bakery and pastry teams make their products every day from scratch with healthy ingredients. For fruits and vegetables, the brand strives to get as many items as possible from farms around their stores to limit greenhouse gas emission, improve freshness and offer better prices to the customers. Al Raya is recognised as having the best hot bread at the lowest price.

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 emphasises sustainability and diversification of the economy. And Al Raya strives to contribute to this vision by working with KAUST University Center for desert agriculture to help grow some of their spin-offs regarding growth of vegetables in arid desert environment with salty water and no chemicals (e.g., Red Sea Farm).
