Dubai Mall recently celebrated the grand unveiling of Chinatown, seamlessly integrating cultural richness into its vast retail expanse. This unveiling isn’t just about a new precinct; it signifies the unity of two nations and the blending of ancient traditions with modern architectural brilliance.

Gracing the occasion were notable dignitaries including Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy; Ma Xin, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province; Li Xuhang, Consul General of China in Dubai; Mohamed Alabbar, Founder and Managing Director of Emaar; Jamal Bin Thaniah, Chairman of Emaar; and Ahmed Al Matrooshi, Executive Board Member of Emaar.

The highlight of the day was the ceremonial red ribbon cutting, symbolising the gateway to a rich fusion of Chinese culture and heritage. This was further enhanced by a series of enthralling cultural performances that depicted the depth and diversity of Chinese traditions, from the mesmerising lion dances to the captivating Peking Opera.

Furthermore, the event marked the inauguration of ‘China Week’, an immersive cultural celebration in collaboration with the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai. For a whole week, visitors are invited to indulge in a curated array of activities, exhibitions and performances, epitomising the essence of China.

Located on the first floor opposite the Dubai Ice Rink, Chinatown’s addition to the Dubai Mall is not merely a commercial expansion but is envisioned as a cultural bridge, offering visitors a taste of China’s vast history and traditions.
