Dubai Duty Free’s 72-hours anniversary sale delivered a Christmas bonanza for the retailer reaching $23.9m in sales over three days, up 24.51% year-on-year. Over the three-day period a total of 165,924 sales transactions were recorded in store. The special 25% discount on a wide range of merchandise was also extended to the retailer’s Home Delivery customers and included Click & Collect. Perfumes performed the best with sales of $6.303m, followed by Liquor ($2.986m) and Watches ($2.726m). Ticket sales for Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise combined reached ($1.374m), making it the fourth most popular category for the first time while Cosmetics took the fifth spot with sales of ($1.555m).

“We are very happy to see such a great result during our annual anniversary sale, both in store and online. I join our Chairman, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, in thanking our customers who joined us in this celebration and our staff, who did a great job in serving them”, said Dubai Duty Free CEO Colm McLoughlin.

Meanwhile, online sales during the same period topped ($2.4m), with a total of 7,134 combined orders received through Click & Collect and Home Delivery, as well as tickets for the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise promotions purchased online. This follows the news that DXB is now 100% operational with all terminals, concourses, lounges, restaurants and retail outlets open. The reopening of Concourse A follows robust growth in passenger numbers at DXB throughout the year and a consistent surge of demand in the final quarter. The Dubai Duty Free Anniversary offer was first introduced when the airport retailer marked its 20th Anniversary in 2003 and continues to be popular over what is traditionally a busy travel period.
