February 2, 2015 | By RetailME Bureau

India-based retail chain Shoppers Stop is looking to increase its presence in the online space with plans to tie-up with Snapdeal and Amazon. That aside Shoppers Stop will also ramp up its own website to increase online sales, which is currently below 1% of its total turnover.

As part of a three-pronged strategy, Shoppers Stop will start selling private brands through Snapdeal, says Govind Shrikhande, customer care associate & managing director, Shoppers Stop Limited. “We are gearing up to counter the disruptions caused by online players. We will also build and invest in technology for our own website, connecting our stores with online customers.”

These steps will be executed over the next 12-18 months period. In addition to ramping up its online presence, Shoppers Stop is also working on differentiating its product assortments.
