A new poll of KSA residents has revealed the top travel preferences and habits of today’s modern family. The research, conducted by Disney Destinations – home to the world’s most magical entertainment and recreational destinations – examined KSA families’ key motivators and preferences and the deferring spending habits of families.

The survey found that children were the biggest influence on family holiday choices, with 50% of parents stating that their children have the highest influence on vacation destinations and activities, while 14% of respondents consider social influencers to impact their holiday decisions.

Almost half (48%) of KSA residents polled look for all-inclusive vacation options which include convenience elements such as flights, transfers, food and beverages, with 31% of respondents also noting the importance of having activities and options to suit the interest of every family member when considering vacation options.

The survey found males are far more likely to book themselves online, with 75% reporting they manage the entire process themselves, compared to 46% of females. Females are more likely to seek third-party assistance, with 37% reporting that someone else manages the process for them.

A substantial number of families seek a variety of activities which cater to the age and interests of each relative, with almost one-third (31%) stating this is a priority consideration when planning their vacations.

“It’s not surprising to find that an overwhelming number of families actively seek dynamic vacations with enough variety in activities to suit every member of the family,” says Peter Welch, VP sales & marketing Disney Destinations. “And Disney Destinations offers something for all ages. From world-class theme parks and attractions, to entertainment, dining and leisure activities, we’re committed to ensuring every guest can enjoy their ultimate experience and share in meaningful moments with loved ones.”

When it comes to family holiday budgets, 55% of respondents set aside SAR10,000 or more each year for vacations with 18% expecting to spend more than SAR50,000, with the most prominent proportion of these (45%) being younger families with parents aged 18-29 years old.

“We all see the value in enjoying vacations together with our families and loved ones. Disney Parks is proud to create destinations where millions of guests make magical memories each year,” adds Welch.
