Aldo launches MX Artist series

Canadian footwear brand Aldo unveiled its limited edition Mx Artist series – a collaboration fusing together the best of the art and sneaker worlds, a unification of cultures, styles and creative minds.

Five trendsetting cities were selected for their unique stand-out and edgy artists bringing the colour, fervour and attitude back to street style – including Dubai, London, Montreal, New York and Seoul.

Each design conceptualised by a different street artist from the five different cities, ALDO’s collaboration with each signifies the diversity of the brand and the transgression of boundaries. From Montreal to Dubai and all the way to Seoul the five artists were chosen for their bold and visionary interpretations of what could be brought to life on an Mx trainer.

A first experiential activation of its kind, Aldo’s Mx Artist series is abstract and colourful in nature, using shapes, forms and gestural marks to produce five extremely coveted designs exclusive to Aldo.  Made with lightweight soles, non-stop cushioning and mesh, the Mx is a standout unisex street sneaker that is as comfortable as it is stylish, elevated by the eccentric artistic designs.

The obvious standout from the series is Dina Saadi, a Syrian Russian street artist based in Dubai and invited to represent the fashion forward city onto an Mx sneaker. INSA, one of the UK’s most innovative and respected graffiti writers, represented London with his Mx design. Gabrielle Laïla Tittley also known as PONY is the artist chosen to represent Aldo’s hometown, Montreal. Combining her trademark puns, bright colours, absurd superimpositions and simple lines, her Mx edit is subtle yet edgy. Buff Monster represents New York through use of bright colours, bold lines and funny characters to make the world a better place. Representing Seoul is So Youn Lee, whose work is characterised by her dreamy, vibrant and ethereal paintings which highlight innocence and optimism as an overarching theme.
