The future of retail isn’t a few years away; it’s here. If the turn of the century saw some big changes in retail, now is a period of bigger changes than ever before. The pace of change is accelerating. Disruption is happening faster and at multiple levels. The customer is changing, their demands are evolving. It’s no longer only products but the shopping experience in entirety. Retail, in turn, will have to embrace change, which can sometimes be radical and daunting. Retailers will have to reinvent to not only stay but move ahead in the race. Retailers are locked into a ‘survival of the fittest’ scenario where only those that innovate will flourish and find favour among the connected consumer.
